2009 ACPE Scholarships

Application Information

This year the Association of Computer Professionals in Education (ACPE) has allocated $10,000 for scholarships of up to $2,500 each for students in Oregon and Washington. These scholarships are available to graduating high school seniors who have been actively involved in the use of technology during their high school careers and are planning to pursue studies in a technology related field.

A completed application packet should be submitted to Sandy Nelson, postmarked no later than March 11, 2009. Successful applicants will be notified via email by April 6, 2009. The amount of the award will be paid to the college/school of the awardees choice.

Submitting Application Materials

To submit a scholarship application, please follow the outlined steps below. An incomplete application will not be considered. All materials must be submitted as a complete packet in one envelope by the application deadline to be considered.

Meet the following criteria:

  1. Currently a senior at an Oregon or Washington K-12 public or private educational institution.
  2. Has a minimum C+ GPA (include transcripts)
  3. Has demonstrated high interest and innovative use of technology during high school career.
  4. Has demonstrated some community/school involvement, preference of technology focus.
  5. Plans to pursue studies in a technology related field to obtain the minimum of a two-year degree.
  6. Has provided description of a technology project.
  7. Submitted evidence, in an accessible form, demonstrating the project.
  8. Has completed the Student Applicant Form, signed by 2 nominating teachers.

Submit completed application packet to Sandy Nelson at the address below postmarked no later than March 11, 2009. Finalists will be selected and notified prior to the ACPE Conference to be held on May 5-8, 2008. The amount of the award will be paid to the college/school of the awardees choice. Although not required, awardees are encouraged to attend the conference in Welches, Oregon on Thursday, May 7th when the scholarship awards are announced.

Submit completed application packet to Sandy Nelson by US Mail only to the address above, postmarked no later than March 11th, 2009. The complete packet consist the following items:

  1. Student application form (each question answered in 500 words or less)
  2. Complete student contact information
  3. Teacher nomination signatures and contact information (at least 2)
  4. Signed, and dated current school transcripts
  5. Description of a technology project
  6. Evidence demonstration of the submitted technology project
